Gallaudet was inspired by 9 year old deaf Alice's intellegence to teach help her learn to communicate in sign language
gallaudet then asked alice's father if he could go to Europe to learn as much as he could about the deaf aducation
When Gallaudet arrived to braidwood through ship, he declined the offer of learning their ways because he would of had to stay multiple years and pay a fee
but gallaudet did not give up,instead he wen to the abbe to hear the lectures about communication with the deaf.He later on was invited to visit the French National Institute to learn more of the deaf culture and ways to communicate
At the french institute he met laurent clerc,a brilliant deaf student who devoted his life in deaf studies.Clerc agreed to go to the americas to establish a deaf teaching school with gallaudet.
Gallaudet and Clerc then went back to the U.S to build what is known today as "Hartford"; the oldest permanent school for the deaf in the United States established in 1817.
