  • What is Silent Bartering? -A way of trade where the two sides never see eachother
  • Why was Silent Trade? -There was no conflict or understandings
  • Who used Silent Trade? -North Africa (Berbers) and West Africa (Wangarans)
  • Where did Silent Trade take place? -They go to certain rivers along the Southern forest

  • Step 1- North Africans traveled to Kumbi which was the great market in Ghana
  • Step 2- They then traveled to the river along the Southern forest, then leave the salt, cotton, and grains
  • Not enough resources
  • Step 3- Next, the Berbers (North Africans) bang on a drum and walk several miles away 
  • Step 4- Then, the Wangarans evaluate how much resources they left, and see if it is enough to leave gold
  • Step 5- If there is not enough to please the Wangarans, they leave, then bang the drums
