  • The Persian War started because the Persians wanted more power, control, and land.
  •  King Darius I gathered an army and attacked Greece. He gathered an army of 6000 soldiers. 
  • The Greeks won the first against Persia only loosing 192 soldiers.
  • Ten years later, in 480 BC, King Xerxes, decided to get revenge on the Greeks.     So he created a huge army of 200,000 soldiers and 1,000 warships.
  • The Greeks had a a small army of 300 Spartans led by Leonidas.they met up my a in between 2 mountains. The Spartans defeated thousands. However the Persians defeated them by going around the mountain.
  • When the Persians reached Athens nobody was there. The Persians attacked the Athenians small ship and were sure for victory but the Athenians boats were to fast. the Athenians boats crashed into the Persian ships and sunk them.
