Storyboard Text

  • The causes of the cold war By: Skye Odom
  • There was a lot of mistrust and insecurities in different countries before the cold war started.
  • Both sides tried to get one up on the other to prove their economic system was the best. This resulted in mass spending on military technology.
  • The soviet block countries could not provide their people with consumer goods. This caused the soviet block to mistrust the west even more.
  • One of the few things that the soviet union was good at, at least in the beginning, was space exploration. The U.S. caught and passed them later on, while the soviet union couldn't afford to go on.
  • Although there is still some mistrust today, the soviet union could not meet the economics of consumerism. We have found it is better to cooperate than to fight.
