  • Richard the Lionhearted
  • King Richard I, also known as Richard the Lionhearted because he was a brave crusader, led an English army into the Third Crusade to try to regain control of Jerusalem from Muslims. His army forced the surrender of the Palestinian town of Acre.
  • Later, Richard's forces crossed Saladin's. They battled and Richard caused many casualties. When they eventually got to Jaffa, Richard defeated Saladin again. Saladin could not take more losses so he signed a truce with Richard.
