King Richard I, also known as Richard the Lionhearted because he was a brave crusader, led an English army into the Third Crusade to try to regain control of Jerusalem from Muslims. His army forced the surrender of the Palestinian town of Acre.
Later, Richard's forces crossed Saladin's. They battled and Richard caused many casualties. When they eventually got to Jaffa, Richard defeated Saladin again. Saladin could not take more losses so he signed a truce with Richard.
