Complication Madame Loisel and her husband argue because she is focused on materialistic items and does not have an elegant gown to wear to the upcoming party.
My clothes are old and ugly. I wish to be draped in expensive dresses like the higher class.

Conflict Madame Loisel decides to borrow an expensive diamond necklace from her close friend. Her greediness caused her to go to the extremes of borrowing jewelry just to prove status. This conflict within Madame is man vs self. (Internal)
Development Madame Loisel goes to the party with her husband wearing a gorgeous diamond necklace around her neck, borrowed from a friend of course. Madame has an amazing time at the party and is loved by all.

Climax Madame loses the borrowed necklace. No matter how hard she looks she cannot find it anywhere. Her husband goes out to look for it but unfortunately cannot find it anywhere.

Outcome/Resolution Madame Loisel and her husband work for 10 years to pay off the money they had to spend to replace the necklace only to find out that it was fake diamonds.
