  • When colonists settled colonists settled in America they were still under control of Britain. But there were many hardships of being ruled by Britain when America wanted to be independent.  Here are some of them.
  • The Boston Massacre
  • After the french and Indian war Britain wanted to make sure, the colonists were safe from Native Americans. So they sent solders to go and protect them against the colonists will.  The Quartering act forced colonist to provide shelter, food, and transport.
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • After the French and Indian war, Britain was in debt, so they made the stamp pact. The stamp act made the colonists pay more money for things they needed like food, and water. This helped Britain pay their bills, but made the colonists unhappy.
  • The  Intolerable Acts
  • The Boston Massacre started one night, when a British solider was on patrol, and a group of colonists began throwing snowballs, ice, and rocks at him, in protest against the stamp act. Soon more soldiers came until there was two big groups of people fighting. Eventual a soldier accidentally fired his gun at a colonist, and soon five more lives were lost.
  • After the Boston Massacre all taxes from the stamp act were lifted, except for on tea. This angered the colonists, so they began to stop buying tea from a big company in England. This made England loose money so they made a law that only that one company could sell to the colonists. Of cores the colonists disliked this so, they began doing a thing where they would dress as Native Americans, and throw all shipments of tea off the harbor.
  • After the Boston Tea Party, British chose to punish the colonists by passing many bad laws. They called these the Intolerable Acts. Trade ships were no longer allowed to come to America until the tea was paid for. Jobs were lost and people were afraid of starvation. So a group of leaders from the colonies gathered in Philadelphia, and decided to fight these acts.
