The Monkey's paw grants three men three wishes. It has caused a great deal of trouble for me.
The Major tells the Whites of the Monkey's paw. Greed filled the White's eyes. Then the Major throws it in the fire.
Better to leave it in the fire. I have warned you. I am not responsible for what happens to you now.
Mr. White quickly pulls the paw out of the flame. Whilst the Major tells him to leave it. It will do no good, but Mr. White doesn't listen.
What do we wish for?
They stand there wondering what to wish for. They eventually decide on 200 pounds. Mr. White swears that he felt the paw move in his hand. They wait for a while and when nothing happens they go to bed.
I dunno. 200 pounds?
They wake up the next day and find a man at their door. He informs them that his son has been caught in a machine, and that his master has sent him to deliver 200 pounds for compensation.
Wish Wish Wish Wish!!
Mrs. White wakes up Mr. White with the sudden realization that she can wish for her son to be alive again. Mr. White does so with relunctance. They wait and nothing happens to Mr. White's relief.
They suddenly hear a knock on the door. Mrs. White rushes towards the door thinking it was her sone. Mr. White, suddenly filled with fear, scrambles for the paw and wishes for his son to disappear. When Mrs. White opens the door the street is empty except for a street lamp across the road.
