The day Pompeii erupted was as normal as any other day in this ancient Roman city. Merchants were busy selling and buying, and slaves were shopping completing their errands.
Tremors and loud noises were the first signs of something odd. Every hour or so, the ground would shake violently and people and objects would fall and break.
The citizens were terribly frightened by violent a strange cloud that lingered atop the mountain.
