The Oddysey of the Tomato
The tomato begins its journey in its native Mexico, where the Aztecs cultivated the tomato for food.
When the Spanish Conquistadors arrived in the new world they immediately fell in love with the tomato and decided to bring it back with them to Spain.
The Explorers introduce the Tomato into Spain. Some people loved the tomato, others thought the tomato to be poisonous (They were partially right)
Chefs all across Europe were using tomatoes to spice up their otherwise bland cuisine. Farmers began to grow tomatoes and came up with new varieties.
Many great things came out of the introduction of the tomato into european society. However there was some downsides, The rate of death due to lead poisoning was higher in the aristrocrats because the aci reacs with the pewter in their dishes to form lead.
