King Eurystheus tells Heracles what he has to do. Heracles has to clean King Augeas stables in one day. King Eurystheus was trying to be insulting by giving him a very disgusting task.
King Augeas tells Heracles that the feat could not be done but if he completes it he will be paid but Heracles wants to get the best of King Eurystheus so he goes to look over the stables himself
Heracles went to the stables and saw the amount of dung that was there and realized it was to much to be carried out by one man
In the morning Heracles went out by the stables and waited for the herds to clear. Heracles then started digging in between the two rivers to where the stables are.
Heracles started lifting logs and rocks to clear the dam to let the water flow into the stables and overflow it and clear all the dung that was in it. By sunset the whole yard was clean. King Augeas was mad and never planned on paying Heracles.
Heracles went back to King Eurystheus and he was furious that he was able to complete the almost impossible task. King Eurystheus told Heracles the labor shall not count because he made profit off of it.
