Storyboard Text

  • But you appointed me as a justice for peace in the final hours of the administration!
  • Whatever, see you in court, loser.
  • Sorry, but I refuse to deliver your commission, Marbury.
  • I want to petition for the writ of mandamus!
  • I think we should issue a writ!
  • Wait a minute...
  • I agree!
  • No way! Section 13 of the Judiciary Act of 1789 provides that such writs might be issued !
  • The Constitution does not give us the right to issue one!
  • That section of the act is inconsistent with the Constitution and therefore invalid.
  • We are deeply sorry about this, Marbury.
  • A few months later...
  • After reviewing the Marbury V.S. Madison case, I have come to the conclusion that the courts do not have enough power.
  • I agree, we need more power in here. I think it is emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department to say what the law is.
