In the beginning of the great depression , Many people sufferd by loosing their jobs and not being able to eat. Texas , however , didn't suffer as greatly.
Texas had just gone through the 'boom' of the cattle , cotton , and railroad industry. so Texas didn't suffer as bad.
Although , the drought was something that effected everyone extremely. I Believe the drought was really harsh , especially in Texas. Their cattle began to die off , leaving them with as much food as everyone esle had.
