  • In the beginning of the story there are two ordinary characters named George and Lennie, they are talking about a dream that they have. George and Lennie symbolize the average person and the dream they have represents the american dream. This shows that the  average person wants to live the american dream.  
  • Chapter #6
  • In this chapter Candy's dog gets shot and his dogs death foreshadows Lennies death because Candy and his dog are foils to George and Lennie. This shows that friends should look out for eachother when in need.  
  • In this scene Lennie kills curly's wife in the barn. This scene is the climax of the story it begins the undoing of the dream. This shows that our own actions can be the undoing of our dreams. This is shown in the scene when Lennie kills Curly's wife.
  • In the final chapter of the story George shoots Lennie and this scene symbolizes the death of the dream. This scene shows that "Best made plan of mice and men often go awry.
