Guess what? The Kings have recently sent out troops to conquer Iberia!
The Carthaginians sent out troops to Iberia, led by Hannibal.
Unfortunate for the Carthaginians, some of the people of Iberia were allies with Rome.
Carthaginians! Their attacking! We must inform Rome!
Sir, there has been a message from Iberia. Carthage is planning to conquer them!
Conquer Iberia, you say? Well then, that is definitely a sign of war!
Send out troops directly to Carthage. We must defeat that city!
I've got it. We must cross the Alps and attack Rome!
Attacking Carthage?! We must do something to prevent them...
They're not attacking you, General Hannibal. They are attacking Carthage!
Sir, Hannibal's forces have been fighting our legions for the past 15 years! We must do something!
I've got a new strategy. Send our army to attack Carthage.
Also, make sure to surround Carthage before Hannibal and his forces return.
At Rome, 15 years later...
The leaders of Carthage surrendered. They agreed to limit the size of its army and navy, to pay tribute to Rome, and to leave Spain and Italy. When Hannibal got back, Carthage reneged on the deal. Rome sent back its army and finally defeated Hannibal's forces. They did not manage to catch Hannibal himself, but they made Carthage shrink its army and navy even more, and pay even more tribute.
