November 15th, 1941. Some really unusual events have been happening throughout these days. For example, yesterday, Old Marcel and his wife went outside to get some bread for everyone in here. Every time someone had to go get supplies, they came back in a lapse of an hour or two. Nevertheless, they have been 21 hours in the outside and no one has heard anything about them.
Rumors are starting to come and go, but I think they are just taking a break from this place. Man, it is exhausting. Believe me. Well, these guy named Alan has a radio in which he talks with people from another place 2 kM away from here. He uses it to communicate and give advice for the week. We also have some trading between us. About 10 minutes ago, Uncle Leon told me something that sounded very strange to me. As you may notice, I follow every single word my Uncle says to me;
Look, Jan, you are thirteen now and I know you can understand what is happening outside. It is my responsibility to make it clear to you, and it is what your parents would have wanted me to do.
As you know, the German Nazis invaded Poland two years ago. They came in here as if they were our lord and saviors, killing our troops and taking possession of the whole country. They have an extreme affect on Germany and its expansion.
They are also extremely proud about being the race destinated to rule over the others. They proclaim themselves as superior. The Aryan Race. They also think, us Jews, black people, homosexuals, and handicapped people are the cause of Germany’s crisis in the past years. They have used violence to contain our people for them not to have opposition.
Jewish! KILL THEM NOW.
November 20th, 1941. So, the worst has happened. My Uncle and the rest of the people we were hiding with were discovered yesterday by a German squad who was watching the zone. They destroyed the doors and entered by force. They knew we were hiding, they knew we are Jew, so no mercy was shown towards us. My Uncle and some other men tried to fight them and escape, but their efforts were in vain.
They could not do anything to the Nazi troops. They captured all of us and no one had the chance to escape. I have not seen my Uncle since the incident, they took him to a place and I have no news about him. In my case, I was sent to the wax factories. To my discovery, there are a lot of people in there; and everyone in those cages is the exact same people that my Uncle told me the Nazis hate. When I arrived I was given new clothes. Man, they are hideous. Those white and blue straps make me feel like I am in a hospital.
