  • Factories and farms produced more goods than Americans needed. This led to worker being laid off. 
  • Banks were giving loans to people who couldn't pay back the money. Banks shut down and many people lost life savings.
  •  I WANT MY MONEY NOW!!
  • Sorry, we can't give your money back.
  • After the Stock Market crash people from all classes stopped buying goods. This caused a reduction of many goods which led to reduction in the workforce.
  • Where is everyone??
  • The Smoot-Hawley Tariff protected American companies and put high tariffs on international goods. By the end of 1934 world trade decreased by 66 percent from the 1929 level.
