  • Hey Doc!
  • Hey Bob! i just came back from a surgery. How's your residency program doing?
  • Great. But I wish I knew more about what this job is about. Can you help me out?
  • Sure! come with me to the office.
  • A surgeon is a trained physician that operates on a patient. To be a surgeon, you must have a Bachelor's degree, a completed MD, and spend 5-6 years in a residency program.
  • What exactly is a surgeon? And what types of education do you need to be a surgeon?
  • Some interests you could have are math, biology, and physiology. An important ability you should have is hand eye coordination. Also, you should be able to operate under intense pressure.
  • What are some interests and abilities I should have?
  • You will mostly be operating on patients in an operating room and the rest of the time you will be talking to patients in post- and pre-operative visits. An advantage is that this career is very rewarding. but you do have to go though a lot of school and there is a lot of work. The average annual salary is $402,409.
  • What are the average working conditions? And what are some advantages and disadvantages? What is the salary?
