Today we will be discussing about Climate Change.
What is climate change sir?
University of Makati- HSU
Climate change, also called global warming, refers to the rise in average surface temperatures on Earth.
Learning about climate change is very important for your future as it can vastly affect your life and the people around you.
Global climate change has already had observable effects on the environment. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes is breaking up earlier, plant and animal ranges have shifted and trees are flowering sooner. Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves.
Climate change can be a driver of disease migration, as well as exacerbate health effects resulting from the release of toxic air pollutants in vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and those with asthma or cardiovascular disease.
On Earth, human activities are changing the natural greenhouse. Over the last century the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil has increased the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). This happens because the coal or oil burning process combines carbon with oxygen in the air to make CO2.
SOLVING CLIMATE CHANGE
Small things we can do is to reduce our own carbon emissions. We can do this by taking small steps.
Save energy by turning off the lights, radio, TV and computer when not using them. Walk or ride a bicycle. Stop polluting cities, river, lakes, oceans and forests. Reduce, reuse and recycle as many times as possible.
Though we cannot completely stop climate change, we can slow it down significantly. All it takes is to maintain your carbon footprint and try to trim it month by month.
We've learned a lot today Sir, we understand that as a younger generation we have to end climate change so that it is not a major problem in the future. We will follow the steps to stave off climate change.
