Ivy walks into the forest, looking for the pocket watch. Instead, she sees something else out of the corner of her eye. It is a woman, and she begins to approach Ivy. "Mom?" Ivy whispers.
The woman walks into view and a big grin spreads across Ivy's face. It really is her mother. They embrace and Margaret begins to quickly tell Ivy what happened. "Ivy, you must know; I'm a timekeeper. I decide who lives and who dies."
"I strongly disagreed with this inhumane system. I began to resist but the Head Timekeeper got angry and punished me. I had to leave you, Ivy, I'm so sorry, or he would have come for you too. So, I stole the watch and ran here."
"The watch is magic, as I suspect you discovered. It is the very one that controls everyone's lifetime, except the Timekeepers'. When you broke it, time stopped for them, but you remained conscious because of your Timekeeper blood."
"I must do this. I can't let the Timekeepers control anyone's life anymore. I know how to completely destroy the watch and I will." Ivy looked up at Margaret who, for once in her life, seemed afraid. "Mom what are you-" Ivy began but stopped when she saw her swiftly pull out a small black jewel from the center of the clock.
"I'm sorry, Ivy. I love you," her mom whispered to her, "In order for me to destroy the watch and the Timekeepers' powers, it must take a Timekeeper's life." Margaret fell to the ground. "MOM! MOM, NO!" Ivy screamed. "Listen to me, Ivy, and remember this. It is important to make sacrifices for the greater good," Margaret murmured as her last words. The sun began to rise again as tears cascaded down Ivy's face.
