  • The Law of Suspects: People were arrested and executed if they were suspected of treason against the revolution. Fear spread throughout society because they were executed without trial and just through simple suspicion so they stayed in their homes. Their rights of liberty was being stripped away as they feared the knock on the door that would take them away.
  • September 17, 1793
  • The Reign of Terror comes to an end as Robespierre is overthrown. He is executed by the guillotine: Robespierre is accused with corruption. He caused the world to live in fear and had killed thousands of people.
  • July 27 and 28 1794
  • The directory: is a five member group functioning as the head of the government. It struggled to implement policies, and had to rely on the military since they were unable to maintain the order. Many problems occurred such as coups, and corruption. The purpose was to separate power and limit the power from one person.
