Storyboard Text

  • “Meanwhile the animals had chased Jones and his men out onto the road and slammed the five-barred gate behind them. And so, almost before they knew what was happening, the Rebellion had been successfully carried through: Jones was expelled, and the Manor Farm was theirs” (20).

  • Napolean introduces the creation of the windmill.
  • Men, led by Frederick, invade the farm and destroy the windmill. The animals drive them off but suffer heavy losses.
  • “...Napolean stood up and, casting a peculiar sidelong look at Snowball, uttered a high-pitched whimper of a kind no one had ever hear him utter before… nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn” (52).
  • In the Great Purge: Stalin uses a secret police to eliminate opposition.
  • “...Napolean announce that the windmill was to be built after all. He did not give any reason for having changed his mind, but merely warned the animals that this extra task would mean very hard work it might even be necessary to reduce their rations” (57).

  • Germans invade the Soviet Union. Russians stop the invasion but suffer heavy losses.
  • After the death of Lenin, Joseph Stalin used various murder techniques and conspiracy theories to eliminate his rivals and take control of Russia. Stalin initiated the “Great Purge” where he would organize a group called the “secret police” that would help assassinate his rivals and place them into exile, allowing him to gain control.
  • In Soviet history, after Stalin declares his rule, he initiates a “first five-year plan” in order to legitimize his power. During this five-year plan, Stalin caused society to indulge in mass famine; causing suppression of colonial subjects, death, as well as created exploited the use of his subjects, creating dishonesty amongst them in order to develop modern weaponry to compete in the vast world power.
  • Russia and Germany had been in agreement with a “non-aggression pact” when suddenly Hitler initiates a spontaneous attack against Russia leading to the Great Patriotic War. During the Great Patriotic War, the Germans were far more prepared and advanced, allowing them to invade and destroy Russia. However, Russia was able to recoup and stop the invasion leading to their own victory. However, they still suffered heavy losses from the strong German military.
