  • Florian and Emila meet by chance in 1945.  Florian is hiding an injury from the past he escaped and Emila has emotional scars as well as a pregnancy that she hides from Florian. They are both trying to escape the horrors of WWII.
  • Rising Action Continued 
  • Florian and Emila find other refugees in an abandon Barn who is also trying to escape from the  terrors of the war and the soldiers who are just on their heals.  They have all lost family and cling to each other in order to survive.  
  • Climax 
  • All the refugees have secrets they are trying to hide but they will need to help each other if they are to survive. Florian is mistrustful but allows Joana to help him. Heinz is a caring fatherly type who takes it upon himself to watch over the small orphaned boy Klaus.  Eva just wants to survive but won't let go of her worldly possessions.  They hide and rest in the barn before moving on.
  • Resolution
  • The group finds an old abandon mansion to rest in before moving on. They soon find out that in order to survive they must be willing to do unspeakable things to protect one another including killing the soldiers they are running from.
  • In order to survive once they get to the checkpoint, they must cross a frozen river and deceive the officials. Without sticking together and helping each other they would not have made it this far. 
  • The members of the group risk everything in order to survive, but not everyone makes it. All perish when the ship sinks except for Florian and Joana who fall in love and adopt Emilia's baby and little Kaus.
