  • Stamp Act-1765
  • Townshend Act-1767
  • Boston Massacre-1770
  • Newspapers, playing cards and marriage licenses were taxed by British government without colonists' approval. Colonists boycotted the tax.
  • Boston Tea Party-1773
  • Glass, lead, tea and paper were indirectly taxed by British government. Colonists realized and boycotted again.
  • Intolerable Acts-1774
  • A crowd of Boston citizens argued with British soldiers. Eventually a shot was fired and 5 colonists died.
  • Lexington and Concord-1775
  • Colonists were forced to only buy tea from England. Protestors raided ships and dumped hundreds of chests of tea into the ocean.
  • Due to Boston tea party, town meetings were not allowed and British military rule was imposed on the city.
  • British troops marched to Lexington & Concord looking for colonial weapons. Minutemen had been waiting for them and defended their cities.
