  • The result of these acts was that, it divided the American colonists into Patriots and Loyalists.

  • The battle of Lexington and Concord 
  • Was known as the shot heard around the world 
  • April 19 1775
  • British troops were sent to confiscate the colonial weapons.
  • One of the first battles of the revolutionary war 
  • First continental congress 
  • An important meeting that occurred on October 26 1774
  • The purpose was to boycott british goods (only 12 out of the 13 colonies actually showed up)
  • Was mainly created because of the coercive acts 
  • Second continental congress 
  • John Dickenson had drafted the olive branch in which the king rejected 
  • Was mainly caused by the intolerable acts 
  • This time all 13 colonies showed up!
  • Committees of correspondence

  • They were spreading assumptions of british actions to the colonies
