Knowing Eleanor enjoyed reading the first issue, Park goes over to see Eleanor after school to read the next issue of Watchman with her. This gesture is one of many ways Park shows his love for Eleanor.
Eleanor takes a babysitting job from her dad just to get money for her family and to be able to call Park. She just wanted to be able to talk to Park alone instead of in public on the bus.
Eleanor knows her mom would never allow her to have a boyfriend, so Eleanor says she is going over to Tina's instead of Park's. Eleanor has never lied to her mother, so anyone can see how much Eleanor loves Park.
Park beats up Steve for continuously making fun of Eleanor. In this, he also declares his secret love for Eleanor to the whole school.
Park drives Eleanor to her aunt and uncle’s house in Minneapolis in order to save her from Ritchie. Through this he fights to not only keep her alive, but also to keep their love alive while they will be miles apart.
Park has sent many letters to Eleanor. Months later, Eleanor finally sends a postcard to Park with the three words she was to scared to say before.
