The brothers took Joseph's colorful robe and dipped it in goat's blood. Once their father saw how torn and bloody it was, he thought his son had been killed by a wild animal.
In Egypt, Joseph worked for the Pharaoh's captain of the guard. However, his master's wife wanted to lie with him. Joseph refused her multiple times.
Annoyed at his refusal, the master's wife accused Joseph of raping her and Joseph was thrown into jail.
The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought among us, came in to me to insult me.
In the prison, Joseph was confined with the cupbearer and baker of the king of Egypt. They both had dreamt dreams that they believed needed to be interpreted.
We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them.
Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me.
The cupbearer dreamt of three branches that produced clusters of grapes when it bloomed. The cupbearer then dreamt that he pressed these grapes into Pharaoh's cup and handed it to Pharaoh.
Joseph knew what this dream meant: "The three branches are three days; within these three days, Pharaoh will lift your head and restore you to your office; and you shall place Pharaoh's cup in his hand."
Please do me the kindness to make mention of me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this place.
