  • No Speak English
  • Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut and Papaya Juice on Tuesdays
  • I want long hair like Rapunzel.
  • Sally
  • In No Speak English the figurative language piece is a simile. " A foot as soft as a rabbits ear" (Cisneros 76). This means that her feet are really soft like a rabbits ear because rabbits have really soft fur which is on their ears.
  • In Rafael who Drinks Papaya Juice on Tuesdays is about her thinking about going outside but her husband won't let her because he thinks he's too beautiful. " Rafaela leans out the window and leans on her elbow and dreams her hair like Rapunzel"(Cisneros 79). This is an example of an allusion because the author is referencing Rapunzel.
  • In Sally, Esperanza is describing Sally's beauty. "Sally is the girl with eyes like Egypt and nylons the color of smoke"(Cisneros 81). This is an example of a simile because the author is comparing smoke with her nylons because there so black and comparing her eyes with Egypt or Cleopatra which is saying that her eyes are pretty.
