"So Jesus left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. Now he had to go through Samaria. He came to a town called Sychar." John 4: 3-5
Jesus sat down by a well because he was tired from his journey. There he met a Samaritan woman.
Will you give me some water?
Why would you ask me for water? You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan.
If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.
You have nothing to draw from the well with and the well is deep. And where are you going to get this "living water?"
Jesus told her if she drinks this water, she will be thirsty again, but if she drinks the water he gives her she will never be thirsty again and will have eternal life.Of course the woman said that she wanted the living water.
Then Jesus said to get her husband and come back, but the woman said she had no husband. Jesus said that she was right, she had no husband, revealing that he knew all about her life.
Bring your husband here.
