Mary was waiting for her husband to come from work.
She took his tie and put it away. Then gave him his drink and sat back down to begin her sewing.
You must be terrible hungry by now because it's long past you supper time.
He finished his drink and wanted to talk about something serious with his wife but she refused to accept that he really needed to talk to her.
Lamb to the slaughter is a story about Mrs. Maloney and her husband Patrick. Mary was pregnant with their first child when Patrick told her something she didn't want to hear. Something in her flipped, she went to the kitchen and came back a few minutes later with an item in her hands. She rose the leg of lamb to the air and swung it down to Patrick's head with enough force to kill him. She looked down at him with a sinister smile on her face. In that moment she decided to go to the store to pick up a few items and plotted to come back and "find" her husband lying dead on the floor. When she returned the tears that fell down her face were not faked but she couldn't let herself believe that they were real tears for the love of her life. She straightened her self up, called the police, and waited patiently for their arrival. Once they arrived she cried for a few minutes and then proceeded to offer them the lamb she had just murdered her husband with. They all enjoyed the lamb together and the police discussed about finding the murder weapon. "Probably right under our very noses. What you think, Jack?" Says one police officer to another, ending the story ironically.
She walked into the kitchen and came back a few minutes with an item in her hand. A leg of lamb and swung it at his head with all her strength.
She called the cops and when they showed up she burst in tears claiming she found him like that and offered them dinner so they ate the murder weapon.
