John Root : Burnhams partner
Setting: Chicago 1839

One of the main conflicts is that the fair was made out of good intentions and was a place for people to come and enjoy themselves but instead Holmes had bad intentions and turned something that could've been amazing to something that was devastating
Another conflict is that the architects had a specific date and time that the fair had to be completed by , and which was impossible due to the unpredictable mother nature.
The theme of the novel was if you set your mind on something you could achieve it. Holmes was so determined to to build a hotel so he could lure his victims to their death whereas Burnham wanted to build the worlds fair for good, and even though his partner died Burnham didn't let anything get in his way.
