  • The Corrupt Church (Disobeying Vows)
  • Don't tell...
  • Indulgences
  • 95 Theses
  • Complaint number 95...
  • In the time of Martin Luther, the Catholic Church was beginning to become corrupt, for example, Popes and other church staff would take vows not to marry, and some were disobeying those vows.
  • Diet of Worms
  • Arrest him!
  • The Catholic Church also began to sell indulgences, meaning they said they would forgive sins for a fee, which was for some peasants, their life savings.
  • Luther Translating the German Bible
  • Martin Luther read the bible, and found that the church had no right to do what they were doing, so he wrote his famous 95 Theses, a list of 95 compliants about the Church.
  • Peasant Revolt
  • After receiving a letter from the Church and burning it, Luther was sent to the Diet of Worms, a meeting where the Church asked Luther to renounce his acts, and where after, the King of the Holy Roman Empire, sent out the order to arrest Luther.
  • Luther's followers hid him in Wittenburg Castle, not wanting him to be arrested, and there Luther translated the bible into German, for Germans to read and see that the church did not have the power to act how they did.
  • Thanks to Martin Luther translating the bible, the peasants read it, realized the church did not have the power to do what they had done, and revolted, but Luther restored peace, and founded his own church, the Lutheran Church.
