Storyboard Text

  • I am so tired after this long day of work. Maybe I should go to the bar to get a drink..
  • LIPS THAT TOUCH LIQUOR SHALL NOT TOUCH OURS
  • Many men in the 1800's went to local bars after working long hours. They came home very drunk and hurt their wife and children.
  • SENECA FALLS CONVENTION
  • During this time, there was a very high rate of alcohol consumption. It slowed work productivity and led to many accidents.
  • One day..
  • We tried..
  • Women could not take the abuse anymore, so they created the American Temperance Society. Men who drank had to pledge not to drink or abuse their families ever again.
  • WE CAN VOTE NOW!
  • WE DID IT!
  • Women were tired  not having their voices be heard. The first women's rights convention was in Seneca Falls. They wanted to vote, and have the right to own property. Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth C. Stanton were important during this movement.
  • Susan and Elizabeth put a lot of effort in trying to get more rights for women. More people came to the realization that women should be able to vote, but it was not successful.
  • On August 18th, 1920, the 19th amendment was approved and women were now allowed to vote. Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton's hard work paid off many years later.
