Storyboard Text

  • Old shipmates, friends, the rest of you stand by; I'll make the crossing in my own ship.
  • At this I went aboard, and gave the word to cast off by the stern. My oarsmen followed, filing into their benches...
  • A prodigious man slept in this cave alone, and took his flocks to graze afield-remote from all companions
  • We climbed, then, briskly to the cave.
  • (That night when the cyclops returned)
  • We are from Troy, Achaeans, blown off course by shifting gales on the Great South Sea; homeward bound, but taking routes and ways uncommon.
  • Strangers, who are you?
  • (The cyclops responds badly to Odysseus' response)
  • Ahh!
  • ...In one stride he clutched at my companions and caught two in his hands like squirming puppies to beat their brains out... and make them his meal.
  • (Odysseus and his men retaliated against the Cyclops)
  • Take that you fiend!
  • Ahhh!
