This storyboard does not have a description.
The Gift of the Magi by O Henry begins with a young married couple, Jim and Della. They live in tenement housing and do not own much, but deeply love each other. Della wants to buy a gift for Jim for Christmas.
The theme of the story is sacrificial love. Both give up their prized possessions (Jim his watch and Della her hair,) so that they can buy something meaningful for the other.
I gave up my watch to buy you a special present-beautiful combs.
But I gave up my hair to buy you a chain for your watch!
One of the symbols in this story is the gift Jim gives Della-combs for her hair. This is a symbol of how much Jim really loves Della and cares for her.
I'm so happy you gave me combs!
