  • Alexandra and Tom Robinson's Death

  •  In this part of the book this when Atticus finds out Tom Robinson was shot and told Alexandra. Alexandra was shocked and shook. She responded with saying, "Didn't they try and stop him? Didn't they give him any warning?" Aunt Alexandra's voice shook. (Lee 315)
  • Scout and Prejudice and Democracy with Miss Gates
  • During this event Aunt Alexandra shows sympathy for Tom when she found out he was shot. "Aunt Alexandra sat down in Calpurnia's chair and put her hands to her face. She sat quiet still; she was so quiet I wondered if s he would faint." (Lee 315-316).
  • Scout and Prejudice and Democracy with Miss Gates 
  • During this we see a different side of Alexandra. Miss Maudie helps Aunt Alexandra keep it together, and she returns to the room of the ladies. Alexandra actually smiles at scout. Aunt Alexandra is starting to like warm up and become supportive. She was showing compassion for her brother during this event, because she knew how much he was struggling and how much baggage he was carrying, and she didn't like to see him like that. 
  • Scout and Prejudice and Democracy with Miss Gates
  • This event is when Miss was explaining how america is a Democracy. Scout defines a democracy as "Equal rights for all, special privileges for none." (Lee 328) .
  • During this event Miss Gates was explaining how in America we aren't prejudice. She says "Over here we don't believe in persecuting anybody. Persecution comes from people who are prejudiced." Miss Gates was being hypocritical because she says that America is better that Germany because Americans are not prejudice she said. When in fact the town is prejudice against the African Americans that live there.
  • Scout  notices the hypocrisy, and was confused about what Miss Gates was talking about. Scout has grown a matured to and has noticed the things going on in the town of Maycomb.  When she gets home she says to Jem, "Jem, how can you hate Hitler so bad and then turn around and be ugly about folks at home." (Lee 331)
