Storyboard Text

  • "Fair is foul, and foul is fair Hover through the fog and filthy air." (1.1.12)
  • "And with his former title greet Macbeth." (1.2.65)
  • "All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!"(1.3.50)
  • The three witches meet on a heath and discuss plans for when they shall meet with Macbeth.
  • King Duncan praises Macbeth for having killed a traitor and rewards him with the title of Thane of Cawdor.
  • "Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty. Make thick my blood." (1.5.30-33)
  • Macbeth and Banquo come across three witches who tell Macbeth that he will be king. Banquo wants information regarding his future so the witches tell him that his descendants will be kings but he shall not.
  • "When you durst do it, then you were a man; and, to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man." (1.7.49-50)
  • Duncan rewards Macbeth the title of Thane of Cawdor just as the witches predicted. However, he then names his son Malcolm the Prince of Cumberland, the next king of Scotland. Macbeth is frustrated that Malcolm is in the way of him becoming king.
  • "Our eldest, Malcolm, whom we name hereafter The prince of Cumberland." (1.4.39-40)
  • Lady Macbeth receives a letter from her husband stating that the king will be staying in their castle for the night. She wants to be emotionless so she can convince her husband to kill Duncan and take the crown for himself.
  • Macbeth and his Lady discuss their plot to assassinate Duncan. Macbeth is unsure of it because Duncan has done him no wrong. Lady Macbeth convinces him by insulting his manhood. They make a plan where Lady Macbeth will get the guards drunk and then ring a bell as a signal for Macbeth to go kill the king.
