Storyboard Text

  • "Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand?" (2.1.33-34)
  • "Hear it not, Duncan; for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven or to hell." (2.1.63-64)
  • "Why did you bring these daggers from the place? They must lie there: go carry them; and smear the sleepy grooms with blood." (2.2.60-62)
  • Macbeth hallucinates and sees a floating dagger before him. The dagger directs him to Duncan's chamber where Macbeth murders the king.
  • "Is thy master stirring?" (2.3.45)
  • Unaware of what is happening around him, Duncan sleeps in his bed as Macbeth comes to end his life for his own selfish goals.
  • "O horror, horror, horror! Tongue nor heart cannot conceive nor name thee!" (2.3.68-69)
  • Macbeth returns to his own chamber where Lady Macbeth waits for him. In his guilty state of mind, he brings back the murder weapons. She proceeds to scold him for being so ignorant and then returns the daggers herself.
  • Lennox and Macduff are let in to the castle by a porter.
  • Macduff discovers Duncan's dead body.
  • Malcolm and Donalbain flee from Scotland to save themselves. Macbeth is crowned king but Macduff does not attend the coronation.
  • "He is already named, and gone to Scone to be invested." (2.4.38)
