  • MONSTERS ARE DUE ON MAPLE STREET
  • CHARLIE & STEVE 
  •  SETTING: IN A SMALL TOWN, LATE SUMMER 1950'S, MAPLE STREET, USA. 
  • Les Goodman & Tommy
  • BY: ROD STERLING 
  • Mrs. Brand & Pete Van Horn 
  • CONFLICT 
  • Everyone calm down, let's not be a mob. 
  • This is quite frightening
  • It's Tommy! He knew about the aliens!
  • It was you! And I can prove it!
  • Les must be the monster!
  • RISING ACTION
  • All the power is out. Nothing works, even things not connected to the electricity.
  • "Mr. Brand . . . you better not! . . . They don't want you to. . . Whoever that was in that thing that came by overhead" (700).
  • Why is this happening? Why should we belive a silly child!
  • My car just started!
  • Protagonist: Steve Antagonist: Charlie
  • CLIMAX 
  •  You killed an innocent man!
  • "You killed him, Charlie. You shot him dead!" (707).
  • Everyone kept blaming and turning on one another, scared for their own life. 
  • FALLING ACTION 
  • In the beginning, everything on the street stopped working and in the midst of the confusion, Tommy suggests it was caused by aliens. People become fearful and search for a scapegoat. 
  • RESOLUTION 
  • "With few variations. They pick the most dangerous enemy they can find...and its's themselves. All we need to do is sit back and watch" (709).
  • Charlie shoots Pete Van Horn as he suspects he is a monster coming to kill them. 
  • No! I can't believe I just shot Pete! 
  • The group of people turn into a mob filled with fear and start to chase each other and cause destruction. 
  • No! They're the monster!
  • Quick! Follow me and we can destroy this!
  • Get him!
  • Look at yourselves! STOP!
  • Ahhhh!
  • The aliens cause the power outage to create fear in humans.
