Don't ask how he knew, he just did.
The rocks were arranged like a triangle. Jim realised that to safely navigate them he would have to calculate the distance between the points.
He knew that the hypotenuse was 20m long, and that the adjacent was 8m. The angle between the hypotenuse and adjacent was 30 degrees.
Unfortunately, Jim couldn't remember how to calculate the side of a triangle. His boat crashed into the rocks and he died.
Tip: Use SOHCAHTOA to work out the missing side. After you've finished, try making up a question for the person sitting next to you.
