I'm reading this stupid book about democracy and the media.
What are you reading?
I don't believe in democracy, I believe that a country should be ruled by philosopher kings.
How unfortunate, I believe that democracy in its best form allows for public opinion to be heard.
But how can democracy work? the truth is set and must be sought out by philosophers.
After all, If regular citizens were to try and participate in government they could be led from the truth by those Sophists.
But if all people were trained to be philosophers, wouldn't that negate your point?
Furthermore, just having one group in charge of information and governance is inefficient and an all-around poor infrastructure.
How could having one set truth be a poor infrastructure?
Simply because if only one group has a monopoly over information, inevitable there is only one narrative which the group has total control over, regardless of truth.
