  • OLD MAN GET OUT OF MY WAY YOU UGLY BASTARD
  • ARE YOU TRYING TO PICK A FIGHT
  • I HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY SO STEP ASIDE
  • HUBRIS
  • YOUR TRYING TO REMOVE ME FORM POWER YOU CRAZY BLIND SEER
  • NO, YOU MURDERED LAIUS
  • You were adopted Oedipus. You where found bound to a rock in infancy.
  • PERIPETIA
  • Oedipus' hamartia is his rage which leads to the murder of his father whilst also widowing his mother who he will later marry
  • ANAGNOROSIS
  • Oedipus is too prideful too accept the seers verdict that he was laius murderer. This causes him to further pursue the truth leading him to the eventual discovery that he murdered his father and married his mother
  • CATASTROPHE
  • At this point Oedipus' wife realizes that she is his mother. She begs Oedipus not to pursue the truth and when he decides too she commits suicide.
  • CATHARSIS
  • Please give my wife a proper burial and allow my children to remain in Thebes. I shall forever be exiled to the mountains
  • The moment in which Oedipus realizes he murdered his father and married his mother is the point of anagnorisis
  • You are of Laius' lineage
  • Oedipus' mother, Jocasta has commited suicide and Oedipus stabs out his eyes with her golden brooches and is exiled soon after
  • "Why should I see whose vision shoed me nothing sweet to see?"
  • Finally Oedipus is exiled after his wife's suicide. This could have all been avoided had Oedipus not pursued knowledge about his parents
