  • Hello kids, can anyone tell me why the English Language needs phrases and clauses?
  • Semicolons separate two related independent clauses. Colons are a punctuation you use to start lists after a complete sentence.
  • That's Right! What is the purpose of colons and semi-colons?
  • Because without a complete thought, a dependent clause makes no sense and would just be a fragment.
  • Alright! Why are dependent clauses "Dependent" on independent clauses?
  • Subordinating conjunctions connect two clauses together like "Although" or "Because" and they sometimes separate two clauses.
  • Wow! you guys are smart! You can go to lunch now!
