  • Exposition
  • Bellringer: Write a poem on the sun.
  • Conlict
  • "It's like a fire in the stove."
  • "You're lying!"
  • Rising Action
  • "Let's put her in a closet before the teacher comes back!"
  • "No!"
  • The main character, Margot, is introduced as the children in the classroom sit and wait for the rain to stop.
  • Climax
  • Margot talks about her memory of the sun to the students, who do not believe her. They began to yell at her and push her, getting into a heated argument.
  • Falling Action
  • Margot! She's still in the closet!
  • The kids get angry and decide to lock Margot in a closet before the teacher returns. Laughing and amused, they walked away.
  • Resolution
  • The rain stops and the sun comes out. The children go out and play.
  • "Much, much better!"
  • "Oh, it's so much better than the sun lamps, isn't it?"
  • The sun goes away and it begins to rain again, before the children remember Margot and grow guilty.
  • "Seven more years..."
  • The children go back to the closet, knowing that Margot did not get to see the sun. They slowly unlocked it and let her out.
