Storyboard Text

  • Senate Floor Debate
  • In the Senate, debate is unlimited. Often, the filibusters will take place, in order to stall a bill. However, closure motions can stop a filibuster, by limiting consideration of a matter to 30 additional hours of debate.
  • I wonder how long this one will last...
  • I really like the color pink. Its a really pretty color. I also like dogs....
  • This filibuster has been going on for 10 hours already..
  • Can we vote for a closure motion...
  • If the bill passes both houses a conference committee made up of members from both chambers of congress meet in order to discuss and dissolve differences in the bills to create one together to send to the president.
  • Conference Committee
  • The house's version decided that we would have the number of shelters based on the populations size of the city.
  • If the president agrees to the bill, it will be passed. If the president does not agree with the bill, he is able to veto it. The president can also pocket veto, an indirect way, by not signing the bill all the way until the season ends and the bill is no longer able to be approved.
  • I don't agree with this bill, im not going to pass it.
  • Bill VETO
  • Session is almost over...ill wait for it to end
  • Bill
  • If both the house and senate would like to override the presidents veto, a 2/3 vote in each is required.
  • The veto has been overiden!
