However, the president thought otherwise.
Split up the land! Assimilate Natives into our culture!
He wanted to split up the land and sell it to individual landowners instead of the whole tribe. This is one way the Natives were assimilated into the settlers' culture.
Instead of the lands being fertile for farming...
They were not fertile and unsuitable for farming.
Which negatively impacted the Indians and left them helpless, robbed of their crops and their way of life.
