Storyboard Text

  • Death of a Salesman Symbolism: the Silver Trophy
  • Saydee Schweikert
  • The silver trophy represents Willy's lack of recent success, sense of entitlement, tarnished reputation and  mediocrity. It is also symbolic of Biff's peaking in high school and  "getting lost".
  • There is  one mention of the  trophy  in the description of the set. It is slightly tarnished. It is silver rather than gold, suggesting that Willy was never the best. It  is above his bed, rather than Biff's. Perhaps because Willy is more reminiscent of Biff's high school days than Biff is.
