  • Starting Point
  • Call to Adventure
  • Refusal
  •     First, Odysseus is a man who is pretty cocky, brave, but still cunning. He is king of his home Ithaca.  He has a wife named Penelope and a newborn son named Telemachus.
  • Assistance
  •     Next, Odysseus is asked to go to the trojan war by King Menelaus the king of Sparta.
  • Cross the threshold
  • Home... It was a great honor to win the war with my brothers, but now i must return to my family.
  •       Odysseus doesn't want to go to war because he is already a king and has a family at home to take care of.
  • Tests
  •     Also, Athena helps Odysseus by putting up a shield to deflect objects for him while killing the suitors at the end of the story. She also helps him throughout the story like sending Hermes to give Odysseus magic to withstand Circe's spell.
  • After deciding to go to the Trojan war because it was a great honor back then, Odysseus tries to get back home to Ithaca with his men on one boat after winning the Trojan war.
  •     Then, while his way back home to Ithaca the Greek gods unravel Odysseus' fate because they think he thinks too highly of himself for just a mortal man so they test him with setbacks throughout the story. The arguably most important setback was meeting Circe for the steps on how to get back home to Ithaca.
