Hello and welcome to History Theater. Today's show is about Fa'il and the First Two Crusades.

Here is the path our story takes place on as Fa'il journeys along the path of the crusaders.
We begin our story in 1096. The Crusades have just begun, the first one led by four Christian nobles. Planned by Pope Urban II and more than 200 other bishops, Christians of all ranks were persuaded to join the crusade. Pope Urban preached that Christ commanded the extermination of Muslims, and that all Christians should become soldiers of Christ. Almost 30,000 people fought through Anatolia.
The crusaders head towards Palestine, then, in June of 1098, they lay siege to Antioch in Syria, where Fa'il lives. The city finally fell to the Christians after nine months when a traitor let them enter.
Fa'il and his family's housekeeper hide in the cellar as the crusaders fight the Muslims. They listen as the Christians massacre Fa'il's parents and steal all of their possessions.
In July of 1099, Christian crusaders took Jerusalem, massacring Muslims and Jews, and selling the survivors to slavery. After this, most crusaders went home, but some stayed behind and established four crusader kingdoms in Palestine, Syria, and modern-day Lebanon and Turkey.
