Storyboard Description

A comic that describes how CFC's can destroy our ozone layer

Storyboard Text

  • I am a CFC! I am made up of three Chlorine atoms. I want to destroy Ozone and make humans miserable!
  • I am ozone. I consist of three bonded oxygen atoms. I protect humans from the sun's rays
  • I am an Oxygen molecule. I am made up of two oxygen atoms.
  • The sun's rays break apart a CFC molecule.
  • OH NO! The sun's Ultra violet radiation is breaking me apart. I must join an oxygen atom from ozone to protect me.
  • In this process, a released Chlorine atom from a CFC destroys an Ozone molecule by removing anoxygen atom from the bond, leaving the ozone as an oxygen molecule. Now, instead of a CFC and an ozone molecule, there is a Oxygen/Chlorine bond and an Oxygen molecule.
  • Before...
  •   OH NO! The chlorine atom has stolen one of MY atoms. Now, I am simply Oxygen.
  • HA HA! Now humans will suffer!
  • After...
  • A released oxygen atom breaks up the chlorine/oxygen bond, creating a new oxygen bond. In the beginning, there was a CFC and ozone, now there are just two oxygen molecules.
  • OH! I see a chlorine - oxygen bond. I will prevent this. #OXYGEN AND OZONE 4 LIFE
  • The now released Chlorine atom from the previous panel repeats the process with another ozone molecule. Once again, the Chlorine atom attaches itself to an oxygen atom from ozone, leaving behind an oxygen molecule.
  • Hello! I am another ozone molecule in the atmosphere. OH NO! I see a Chlorine atom nearby! The CFC's will destroy me!
